User Management – Basic Function

Semmel’s User Management is a powerful service to create Users and grant access to other Applications (also known as Modules) within the ECHO Platform*. An Application is a solution like Semmel Hand Hygiene, Semmel Infection Control, Semmel Reports etc. Access to Applications and functions is done by assigning Roles to a User. The User Management Module also lets you create custom Roles and define a custom set of permissions to grant access to granular functions within each Application. However, this page’s instructions is limited to assigning system’s predefined roles only.

*ECHO Platform is a proprietary development platform where all of Semmel’s solutions are built upon.

How to create a User

From the Applications Dashboard, select User Management.

On the left Menu, click on User Type and then click Employee User Profile.

Click Add. Enter all the required information marked with an asterisk *. Other information is optional. See instructions below:

Enter User Information

Username: Give a unique username to the user. A good choice is the user’s email.

Password: Create a temporary password. This password will be emailed to the users and This is optional. If no password is set for the User, then the system will prompt the User to set his own password when he attempts his first log in.

Force Password Change: For better security, force the User to change the temporary password that you have set for him by selecting Yes.

Account Expiry: This is optional. If you must, then set a forward date. The account will automatically locks upon expiry of this date.

Enter Employee Information

Salutation: Enter the salutation of the User

Full name: Enter he full name of the User.

Short Name / Alias: This short name will used to display the User’s identity on all of Semmel’s mobile apps.

Employee Code: Enter the User’s employee code. You can input a dummy code.

Email: Enter a valid email. This will be used to reset password if the User forgets his password. If the user does not have an email, then enter a dummy email. In this case, we suggest that you set a password and set Force Change Password to Yes.

Give access to Web Application

For each web application, select the Role that you want to grant to this User. If you do not want to grant this User any of the web applications, just leave it blank. To grant access, tick the selected Role and click Save.

Give access to Mobile Application

For each web application, select the Role that you want to grant to this User. If you do not want to grant this User any of the web applications, just leave it blank. To grant access, tick the selected Role and click Save.

Lock or Unlock User Account

When a User leaves the organisation, you can lock the account to prevent access.

To lock a User account, select the User’s name and click the Lock/Unlock button. Then click Yes in the dialogue box to confirm. User’s account that is locked will be marked as Locked.

To reactivate an account that is locked, select the name Lock/Unlock button. Then click Yes in the dialogue box to confirm. User’s account that is not locked will be marked as Active.

Understanding the system Roles for each Application

Semmel Hand Hygiene Admin Portal

The system defined Role for Semmel Hand Hygiene Admin Portal is Administrator. Administrator has full access to all the features and functions of this Application.

User Management

The system defined Role for for User Management is User-Manager. User-Manager has full access to all the features and functions of this Application.

Reports

The system defined Role for for Reports is HH Report Analyst. HH Report Analyst has full access to all the Reports for Semmel Hand Hygiene Application.

Semmel Hand Hygiene App

The system defined Role for Semmel Hand Hygiene App are Auditor and Report. A User with Auditor role have access to all functions within the mobile app except mobile reports. A User with a Report role only has access to mobile reports in the mobile app. You can grant these 2 roles to a User, in which case he will have access to all mobile app functions as well as mobile app reports.
